As CUFA strives to build a world were everyone is able to meet their basic needs, we ask: what can we do to build the power we need to win?
Here are the top 3 actions you can take this week:
- How should CUFA respond to the moment we're in? Please watch "Making Meaning of This Moment: Forging an Abolitionist Strategy for Defending Black Communities," by Movement for Black Lives, a national network of Black-led organizations. Watch the recorded webinar here and learn about M4BL's week of action here.
- Each summer, CUFA recruits new members through a door-to-door canvass. This year, we are embarking on a phone canvass that will emphasize building a deep, listening relationship with the people we are calling. Learn about our plans for recruitment this summer at our Deep Canvassing Orientation tomorrow, June 9, at 5:00 PM. Sign up here for instructions to join via Zoom.
- Sign up to join us at for our Energy Affordability Action Team this Thursday, June 11, at 5:00 PM. We have joined a statewide coalition working to push for a statewide moratorium on energy shut offs. Help us make it happen, and help us win clean, affordable energy for all.
What's happening this week:
Racial Justice: This past week, the world has witnessed unprecedented mass action for racial justice. It spurred a conversation amongst CUFA's leadership about how we rise to the moment. We know that the issues we work on affect communities of color deeply and that racial injustices make it hard for people of color to meet their basic needs. Last week, CUFA released this statement on racism. This week, we hope to further the conversation about how we can engage and support the movement for racial justice. Please join the conversation on our Wednesday CUFA Community Chat. If you are a CUFA Member, watch your email for details on how to join the chat.
PLEASE NOTE: THE CITY BUDGET TALKS ARE COMING SOON! WATCH FOR MORE INFORMATION--WE EXPECT THE PUBLIC INPUT TO BE SHORTENED BECAUSE OF THE CORONAVIRUS.
The Census is still happening! Make sure you are counted! Federal funding and how much representation we get in Congress is determined by Census results, so help CUFA spread the word about the importance of filling it out. The Census is collecting responses over the phone or online. You can fill yours out here.
