Duke Energy is proposing a 32% rate hike for its electric customers. The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO),Duke's regulator, is poised to allow this increase. In addition to being an enormous spike in cost to consumers, the proposed rate hike could not be offset by conserving energy because it is attached to the delivery service. The Ohio Consumers' Council is recommending a $1.4 million DECREASE instead of Duke's proposed $55 million increase.
