Federal Reserve Community Meeting

Communities United for Action and Working In Neighborhoods will be hosting representatives from the Federal Reserve on July 21st, 2009 at our office (1814 Dreman Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45223).

CUFA and WIN are members of a national group called National People's Action.  CUFA Executive Director Marilyn Evans currently serves as Co-Chair of NPA.  While in Washington D.C. for the annual NPA Conference, eleven grassroots leaders from across the country (including CUFA Executive Director Marilyn Evans) met with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and three of the other four Federal Reserve Governors -- Elizabeth Duke, Donald Kohn, and Daniel Tarullo.  The discussion included transparency and accountability from banks and around the bank bailouts, increasing the data provided under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), and an overhaul of accountability measures such as the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

Chairman Ben Bernanke agreed to hold community meetings in ten cities to hear first-hand about the struggles of everday Americans!

CUFA and WIN will host top officials from the Federal Reserve on July 21st.  This will give Cincinnati residents a chance to voice their opinions and make sure the Federal Reserve understands what is happening to regular Americans!

If you want to get involved in the planning for this community meeting, call DeNeisha or Liz at 513-853-3947 for more information.
