City Council to Vote on EJO -- June 17th at 2:00 pm!
CUFA member will be going to City Hall to testify before the vote and show City Council how many citizens care about this issue. Please join us! If you want to ride down with us, give our office a call (513) 853-3947.
CUFA has been working on Environmental Justice for over 10 years. We've successfully closed down landfills, stopped mass burn incinerators, and even got Cincinnati to institute a curbside recycling program.
All our work over the years has culminated in the Environmental Justice Ordinance (EJO). Currently there is no law that says how much pollution in one neighborhood is too much -- no law that directly protects citizens from health-threatening pollution. You are more important than a landfill or polluting industry! You deserve a law that gives you the power to protect your neighborhood!
If the EJO is passed no major sources of pollution could be created in your neighborhood without you knowing about them. Before any project is started, you would be mailed a letter describing exactly what poisonous substances that project would release in your neighborhood.
And before anyone could start building, this law would give you 30 days to tell your government officials that you don't want any more sources of pollution in your neighborhood; that you know your health depends on keeping more pollution out of your neighborhood.
Don't let City Council say that polluting industries are more important that your health!
