Chinese Officials Come to CUFA Through State Department Program
On August 25th CUFA hosted four Chinese officials, and their translators, who are here in the United States as part of a State Department program on Environmental Policies. While in the United States, the Chinese officials will travel across the country to learn what America is doing to promote sustainable development and environmental protection. CUFA was chosen to address grassroots organizations and their role in environmental policy.
CUFA members told the Chinese officials about their work closing the Elda landfill, closing the Gray Road landfill, stopping the Gray Road Transfer Station, stopping the Mass Burn Incinerator, and most recently passing the country’s first Environmental Justice Ordinance!
The Chinese officials were from various lines of work including: the Chinese equivalent of the EPA, City Governments, Non-Profit groups, and State Agencies. They were in the U.S. for three weeks visiting with American Government Officials, US EPAs, City Governments, and leaders in the environmental field. CUFA being asked to participate is a huge honor!
